Jodi and Trevor
April 28. 2018
When we were first approached to do the flowers for Jodi and Trevor’s wedding, we were excited and flattered. Nancy, Jodi’s mom has been our friend for over 20 years and we have watched Jodi grow up into a beautiful young woman. She sat down with us and let us know that ever since she was a little girl, she has been dreaming of her wedding and she knew exactly what she wanted. She wanted Sunflowers. Lots and lots of Sunflowers for everyone. We knew this was a great opportunity to showcase the beauty of simplicity and we were delighted to get started.
We started with some research about the history and meaning of the Sunflower. The flower was first cultivated in the America’s as far back as 1000 BCE as a source of food (sunflower seeds, anyone? Yummy!) Once European’s started exploring, they brought the Sunflower back with them, where they became the stars in many paintings, captivating audiences with their beauty. The Sunflower came to stand for adoration, loyalty and longevity, a perfect wedding flower!
As we started arranging everything and the excitement kept building up, we knew that we were going to be able to bring to life Jodi’s vision. But what really made all of our hard work worth it, was when Jodi told us that we had surpassed even her own daydreams.
